Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, Stephen Sondheim and Stevie Wonder were honored with once-in-a-century ASCAP Centennial Awards on November 17, 2014. The awards ceremony, held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, featured tributes as well as performances by the honorees.
Sting and Chris Botti performed “Big Man On Mulberry Street” in tribute to Billy. After accepting the ASCAP Centennial Award, Billy took the stage with Mark Rivera to perform “New York State Of Mind” for the honorees and guests in attendance.
The event was the first-ever fundraiser benefiting The ASCAP Foundation and its music education, talent development and humanitarian activities.
