Billy Joel Finding Big Demand For Concerts – Forbes & Billboard

Six-time Grammy Award winner Billy Joel has been a fixture at Madison Square Garden for the last 19 months, loaning his iconic voice and exhaustive discography of hits to the World’s Most Famous Arena for one performance each month. Joel has stated that he will play the iconic venue in Midtown Manhattan as long as ticket demand exists, and the longstanding success he has found there makes it appear that he is just getting started.

The “Piano Man” isn’t just sticking to his roots in the Big Apple, however; he has also branched out to play an array of stadium and arena shows across the country this year. With eight more shows scheduled away from MSG through the end of December, prices for Billy Joel tickets are still bolstering on the secondary market.

In addition, Billboard Boxscore reports that Billy has the eighth highest grossing tour for the period from November 12, 2014 through June 2, 2015. Billy performed 15 concerts during that period for 280,521 attendees at a total gross of $28.2 million.

Dennis Arfa, CEO of Artist Group International, a leading independent booking agency whose roster includes Billy Joel, reaffirms the view that familiarity breeds Boxscore success. He has seen a “remarkable resurgence” in the sales of clients including Def Leppard and Joel, with the former selling out across North America and the latter setting records at venues like Madison Square Garden and Wrigley Field.
