In a rare and unusual mix of rock legends, AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson made a surprise appearance Friday night at Billy Joel's concert at Madison Square Garden and played the metal band's classic, “You Shook Me All Night Long.” Joel introduced Johnson about halfway through the show, saying Johnson was part of one of the best bands he'd ever seen live. The packed arena erupted when Joel and his band began playing the rock anthem with Johnson on lead vocals. – The Associated Press
With notes spread out on top of his piano, his killer band we have all loved since the beginning and the laid-back swagger only a veteran like himself can have, he treated us all to what felt like a private concert. …This is one of those events that will come and inevitably go, but will live on as an epic moment in his career. It’s a thank you to New Yorkers like us, a victory lap for guys like me to see and to strive towards and it sets the standard for what a legend should be. As a Long Islander, this show will remind you where you come from and who you are. It is our DNA. – Ryan Star for Newsday
Then, after a lovely sing-along for “She’s Always a Woman,” he introduced AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, who delivered “You Shook Me All Night Long” with Joel and the band. Yes, that really happened. “That’s how it’s done!” Joel said, as Johnson left the stage, which had been properly shaken by the metal classic. – Newsday
