Venerable singer, songwriter and – yes – piano man Billy Joel looked back on decades of memorable music for more than two hours in a stylishly executed New Year’s Eve show Wednesday at a packed Amway Center. …And there was no shortage of favorites: “Pressure,” “The Entertainer,” “Vienna” and “The Stranger” were packed into the first 30 minutes, along with a snippet of “You Are So Beautiful” as a Joe Cocker tribute. Later, he and the band unleashed a full-blown, masterfully spot-on version of “With a Little Help From My Friends.” …Another hard-working singer-songwriter, Rufus Wainwright, opened the show [and] returned to duet on “New York State of Mind,” but he wasn’t the only guest star: AC/DC singer Brian Johnson joined Joel for “You Shook Me All Night Long,” a well-timed surprise that followed the traditional “Auld Lang Syne” at midnight. – Orlando Sentinel
