Billy describes the impact of the Vietnam War on himself, his friends and his music in this latest video from our “Questions & Answers” lecture series. Billy was asked this question during a lecture at the University of Akron in 1996, and he discusses the draft and how soldiers came back from Vietnam and asked him to write a song about their experiences. That song became “Goodnight Saigon” from Billy’s 1982 album, “The Nylon Curtain.”
